Glulam beams protected with ES/VFR coating at Coventry University
Coventry University has of late been extended with the production of two new cutting edge structures and has become a flagship for the university and a landmark in the city centre. Intended to house the Faculty of Engineering and Computing, the new site includes a six-story layered Science building beside a lower level Nature block, with planted rooftop. Each building is an “L” shaped structure and both are joined with a glazed link which spans 4 storeys.
Inside the glulam timber beam system is noticeable, with veneered boards cladding the spaces in-between. The timber beams create an impressive and eye-catching framework to the glazed panel and automated windows, therefore providing a display of exciting interior design. Glulam beams have been protected with Envirograf® ES/VFR system to achieve a surface spread of flame rating SBI:B/s1/d0.
